Our founder, Shay is a proud first-generation graduate of 2 HBCUs. Although she excelled academically in high school, the path to college wasn't always clear. Her involvement in her high school band - as a captain of the dance line-became a turning point. With the help of a supportive band parent, Shay and her father were guided through the preparation needed for college life. Shay went on to attend Morris Brown College, where she proudly continued her passion for dance as a member of the college's dance line Bubbling Brown Sugar. She later went on to achieve her Bachelors Degree from Alabama State University. Her experience shaped her personal growth, as she learned to balance academics, rehearsals, work, and a social life. Through those challenges , she gained discipline, direction, and a deep appreciation for the arts as a life-changing force. That journey inspired the creation of Elite Movements-a space where students could be supported holistically, and where the arts are used not just for expression, but as a powerful tool for opportunity.
